Hey Godheval, I posted previously as Anonymous (for now). You mentioned something about you reversing your views on whiteness. I'm definitely interested in hearing about that. In the meantime, I posted my thoughts on the roots of American racism and whiteness here:

It's a pretty long post but I still hope to see your comments there!

Thanks for the comments anonymous. I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say in those videos, but I decided that maybe YouTube wasn't the right venue. Also, it turns out that I may have to pull back on the idea of "renouncing whiteness", in light of some new discoveries. More on that later, though, if/when I revise my "White" article.

Oh, and I'll check out that link you posted.

Oh, I almost forgot (this is a little bit off topic). Some time ago, I saw your Youtube videos about "whiteness" and noticed somewhat recently that you had taken them down. From what I remembered of the comments, I don't really blame you. Suffice to say, if you felt discouraged by the responses...don't be. People will see and hear what they want to. You made perfect sense and articulated your thoughts on the issue very well. Just thought I would mention that.

Hey there, Godheval. Just had to let you know that this was a great post! You demonstrated your frustration in an awesome blend of cynicism, conciseness, objectivity and awareness of larger cultural issues. My brothers and I talk about this kind of stuff all the time in relation to various forms of entertainment/news. In fact, just the other day we were talking about this article:

http://news.aol.com/article/students-learn-about-the-dark-side-of/712947

Apparently, there are people that have trouble accepting Columbus as he actually was instead of some mythologized hero. When I get some time, I plan to check out the rest of your articles and post some (hopefully) thoughtful observations, reactions, responses, etc. Keep up the great writing!

Well agreed - so sad, it's surreal. It's about as extreme a case of racial/ethnic insensitivity one can imagine in a game. In fact, it's such a grotesque depiction, it makes the "golliwog" stereotypes of the 19th Century seem tame.

Even more disturbing is that it came from none other than the biggest name in console RPG's...
